The Gopher Tortoise Conservation Initiative is a collaboration of state agencies, conservation groups, for-profit companies, foundations, and landowners working to protect Georgia’s economic viability and multiple species of concern. Our mission is to prevent the gopher tortoise from joining the Endangered Species list.

Each member organization brings unique expertise to the cause. Our government agency partners lead in science, land acquisition and management. The conservation partners provide land stewardship and species expertise. Our foundation and for-profit partners offer substantial financial support.
